The Crisis of American Higher Education

The leftist magazine The Nation just published a fairly brutal indictment of American higher education that is a very interesting read for those of us in graduate school about to enter (hopefully) the profession.  At times the argument seems a bit sloppy, but the discussion of the exploitation of grad students and adjuncts, of funding problems and of the growth of administrative costs is very good.

Highly recommended.
