So you’re thinking about law school…

Then you should read this blog post titled “Why Do Harvard Kids Head to Wall Street?” from James Kwak.  He is discussing why a group of mostly public-minded students end up working in finance and corporate law, and his description strikes me as dead-on from my own time in law school and as a lawyer.

If you have any students thinking about law school, or you are thinking about law school or consulting yourself, it’s a good read.  There is probably also something to be said for reconsidering how we do college education to help students who are interested in public service find jobs there that won’t leave them destitute.
