Graduate school is a terrible idea

See here.  And weep.

My take is that this is pretty much right, unless you can get through grad school with very little debt.  If so, and if you really want to be a professor, then go for it.  Otherwise, it is probably a really bad idea.

  1. The analysis in the link ignores non-monetary benefits. Income and wealth are often not the primary goals of those in the academy.
