Joseph Stiglitz wrote this excellent article on the lessons of the bailout this year.  It’s worth a read.

He didn’t actually write it for the China Daily. He has a monthly column with Project Syndicate that gets picked up all over the world. The same column will likely appear in many other newspapers.
    Thanks, Anya

Thank you for correcting me Ms. Stiglitz. I apologize for my laziness in not doing a little research before posting, and I’ll amend the blog post to just point to the article.

By way of explanation rather than excuse, this was an example of me finding confirmation for a pet theory from spurious evidence, and not checking up on it. I am disappointed with the level of discourse regarding the implications of the crash, and I’m about ready to give up on the American media.

    Lesson learned.
