Constructing the Prospectus

I just ran across a useful guide printed in Perspectives on Politics on beginning one’s prospectus toward a dissertation. It was written by Peter J. May and looks to contain some helpful advice on the process.

    It’s part of a symposium in that issue of PS. There are a few other pieces about the same topic. A pretty decent symposium; I think it falls short in the discussion of the factors that should go into the selection of your chair. Otherwise, useful grist for the prospectus-writing mill.
