Cooperative Behavior Meshes With Evolutionary Theory
Some interesting new research out of MIT. See the bottom of the page for a link to the actual study in Nature.
What I find interesting is the idea that altruism/cooperation pays off more for the altuist/cooperator than the freerider. As long as the altruist’s actions produce a surplus, some degree of freeriding/parasitism can be tolerated. The greater the surplus, the greater the potential tolerable parasitism.
