New Blackboard page…

The department has begun work on a new Blackboard group for political science graduate students. It should be accessible through your normal page. Word on the street (hall) is that the Blackboard page is to include syllabi, graduate forms, and other documents useful to graduate student endeavors, so check it out…and be sure to thank Dr. McMahon, David Csontos, and all other faculty who are working to make graduate student life better through this venue.

On that note, I think it would be advantageous to point out that the political science department is entering a new online age. Also, I should note the differences between the Blackboard page and this blog. The two complement each other: the Blackboard pages provide official documents, etc, while the blog provides a public forum for discussion between and amongst graduate students.

Yay, online enlightenment.

I think it would be helpful if one of the two, either Blackboard or the blog, created an online forum page. I think it might be a bit more manageable to engage in online discussions if it’s easy to create and search for threads, etc.

  2. I don’t know that it’s possible to get a forum on this blog lacking a independently-hosted (re: not free) server. In terms of the blackboard page, I don’t know. Not my realm.

I do think that this page does provide a better method of discussing ideas/questions/whatever, independent of an actual, university-owned (and operated) web site.

That is, if more than just two of us actually use it.

Agreed on the independent website issue.

So what’s up Mike? (Twiddles thumbs)

  4. Not much, just hanging out… how about you? *Cricket*
