John Vasquez Research Luncheon this Friday, Jan. 30

Dr. John VasquezJust a reminder that John Vasquez, T. Mackie Scholar and Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, will be the featured speaker at this Friday’s research luncheon. Vasquez, who is a scholar of International Relations, will be presenting at 11:30 am in Oldfather 538. Free lunch will be provided to the first twenty attendees.

Additionally, graduate students will have a chance to meet with Dr. Vasquez at 9:45 am that same morning. The meeting will take place in Oldfather 516.

Professor Vasquez got his PhD in Political Science from Syracuse University, The Maxwell School in 1974. His research interests are on IR theory, war and conflict and peace science. He has published over a dozen books – his most recent is Realism and the Balancing of Power: A New Debate (co-edited with Colin Elman). His scholarly articles have appeared in the International Studies Quarterly, American Political Science Review, World Politics, British Journal of Political Science, Security Studies, Journal of Peace Research, International Organization, Journal of Politics, International Political Science Review, and Conflict Management and Peace Science among others.
